Soul blues is a way of blues music grown in the last 1960s and emerging 1970s that mixes constituents of soul music and urban live music.
Vocaliser and players who grew up hearing to the conforming breathtaking blues of artists such as Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Jimmy Reed and Elmore James; soul vocalists such as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Otis Redding; and gospel music needed to bridge their preferred music together.
Bobby Bland was one of the initiates of this trend.
